twenty- four

Twenty-four seems like one of those very awkward ages; not quite in my mid twenties, but not fresh out of college. Pretty standard of an age. However, I will say if twenty-four is anything like twenty-three I will be in good shape. At twenty-three I knocked a lot of things off my list:

  • First time visit to Portland, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Syracuse and Chicago.
  • Danced on stage at the Flaming Lips
  • Wore my very first sxsw badge ever
  • Was on not just one, but two(!) tour buses for bands I loved back in highschool and still to this date (At The Drive In & Ben Kweller)
This whole being twenty-four thing actually had a promising start. On July 28th I rang in my birthday the only way I knew how- day drinking punctuated by eating. Below is photographic evidence of all the amazing food and drink Austin has to offer.

Czech Stop West, Texas: 24 hrs of the best kolaches ever.
First bite of the original kolache.
The pork puff kolache, the boys wept.

Breaking the law (oops).

Stop 1: Baby A's famous for their purple margaritas complete with everclear (limit of 2!)
Getting some birthday love from some handsome man

After one purple marg Miss Melody was drunk and having a blast!

Love birds

Stop 2: Curras avocado margaritas- a must have when in Austin. They are not too tart or sweet and have a great creamy consistency.

Getting my birthday day drink on.

Scored free birthday flan!

Stop 3: Snack Bar for their Bloody Maru (bloody mary w/ Sake)

My favorite meal- Tamago Yoko. (cabage, leek, shrimp hash cake, applewood bacon, egg, wasabi aioli, sriracha, bonito and nori)

Stop 5 ( the final stop): Home slice for pizza and beer

My cuts from my last drunken night as a twenty-three year old.
Good 'ol fashioned love.

Iced coffee to wake the sleepy- side of animal crackers.
sausage ricotta cheese roasted red pepper pizza

white pie with spinach
sweet tart buck teef

Ended on the right note: doggy pile style!
